Letters to parents in Minooka discuss camp life, daily occurrences, fellow soldiers, skirmishes, battles, news and business at home. Discuss Benton Barracks, Mo., Vicksburg, Corinth, Memphis, Rome, Georgia and the Officers General Hospital at Beaufort, SC. where he was treated. Two from New York where he went after leaving the hospital. Very interesting, well written and descriptive. Diary kept routinely and more detailed, 1862-1863, but only sporadically in 1864.

First Lieutenant from Minooka, Ill. who served in the 15th Illinois Cavalry and the 1st Alabama Cavalry during the Civil War. Was at the siege and occupation of Vicksburg. Wounded and had his leg amputated, Dec. 1864, while fighting in Georgia. Lived in Denver after the war and was a clerk in the U.S. Court there. From the description of Letters and diaries, 1862-1865.
